I am having a problem with a nuisance animal or suspect abuse or neglect. Who do I call?
Call the Chilton County Dispatch at 205-755-2511. File a report and dispatch will send an officer out based on the jurisdiction.
*PLEASE NOTE: We are the holding facility for the animals, we do not go out and collect stray animals, nor do we investigate animal abuse or neglect cases. These calls MUST go through dispatch to a Police Officer.
I live in the county and found a stray dog, what do I do?
If the dog is friendly and you can safely handle the dog, you can bring the animal into the shelter and we will place the animal on a stray hold so their owner has a chance to find them.
*PLEASE NOTE: The Sherriff’s office does NOT pick-up stray dogs.
I live in the city limits of Clanton and found a stray dog, what do I do?
If the dog is friendly and you can safely handle the dog, you can bring the animal into the shelter and we will place the animal on a stray hold so their owner has a chance to find them. OR, please call the county dispatch at 205-755-2511 and they will dispatch a Clanton City Police Officer to you to pick up the dog.
I am missing my pet, what should I do?
Start searching right away! Put up flyers around town. If you have social media, post on all the local sites. You can send us an email to animalcontrol@chiltoncounty.org with current contact information, a pet description and a photo. Please give us as much information as possible.
*We encourage everyone to look up the ordinances for the jurisdiction that you live in. Each jurisdiction has their own animal ordinances. These include limits of animals, animal confinement ect. If you need assistance in finding them, please contact us and we would be happy to help you locate them.
