About Chilton County E911

The Chilton County Emergency 911 system was founded on January 26, 1991. What began as a few operators dispatching calls using older radio systems has grown to 12 full time and 7 part time employees dispatching calls for 4 municipalities, the Sheriff's Department and 15 volunteer fire and rescue departments.

Chilton County E-9-1-1 makes every effort to utilize the latest technologies so that the citizens receive quality service when they need it most. 9-1-1’s equipment consist of Zetron radio consoles, Southern Software Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) software and Southern Software Mapping for mapping.

Basic Operations

Chilton County is served by an Enhanced 9-1-1 system. The name, address or location and phone number of the telephone used to dial 9-1-1 is displayed on a computer screen at the 9-1-1 center. Combining this information with questions asked of the caller, the Call-Taker determines which emergency agency, or agencies, should respond to the scene.

Addressing

Issuing addresses is one of the single most important jobs that we do. Without an accurate and orderly address system it is difficult to find your home or business quickly during an emergency. Addressing questions should be directed to 205-755-0911, if no answer leave a message and we will return your call as soon as possible.

The E911 department is also responsible for maintaining the GIS database for the purpose of county wide addressing. The GIS system is also used to assist deputies and rescue personnel in the location of houses and businesses.
