Commissioner Darrell Bone, but most of you know him as “D Bone”, is a 1993 graduate of Maplesville High School. A few years later Commissioner Bone had a desire to serve his community and county in a bigger way so he entered the Selma Police Academy, graduating in 1999. This began a lifelong career of Serving and Protecting the Home that he loves.

While serving as the Assistant Chief and K-9 Officer at Maplesville Police Department, Commissioner Bone received the honor of being named “Police Office of the Year” for the Middle District of the State of Alabama. He received this honor in 2001 presented by the Alabama Attorney General. Shortly after, he began his career with the Chilton County Sheriff Department. There he continued serving the county and earning the rank of Sergeant while working with his K-9 partner and becoming a member of the Chilton County Swat Team and Dive Team. Commissioner Bone has been a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Smith Dale Lodge for 20 years. Ten of these years he served as Vice-President. In 2011 he began his career with Clanton Police Department and continued serving his hometown as a Corporal while serving and protecting the citizens of this city and county that he loves.

Commissioner Bone is married to Nichole Bone and together they have three children, Austin, Devan, and Haley, and two grandchildren, Jase and Makena. He and Nichole own and operate Bone’s BackStreet BBQ in Clanton and Jemison.
